ralf | June 1, 2023 | Annual, dungeons of schley, Jon C Munson II, Steampunk, symbol set
Welcome, dear cartographers, to the June issue of the Cartographer’s Annual and to an alternate universe where steam technology goes way beyond what was possible in ours, mad scientists devise strange and powerful artefacts, and most likely zeppelins zip across the sky – in other words, a steampunk world.
Jon C Munson II, who created his first Cartographer’s Annual (Munson’s Mines) in 2017, has returned with another symbol pack compatible with Mike Schley’s Dungeons of Schley of Symbol Set 4. It includes trains, tracks, vehicles and lots of strange machinery.
The June issue is now available for all subscribers from their registration page.
If you haven’t subscribed to the Cartographer’s Annual 2023 yet, you can do so here.

ralf | November 14, 2022 | Isometric Cities, Mike Schley, symbol set, symbol set 6
We are happy to announce that Symbol Set 6 – Isometric Cities is ready to be released into the wild as a public beta version this week. Mike Schley has created another set of amazing city symbols – this time in isometric perspective, giving you an unparalleled panoramic view across the landscape of your cities and towns.
The Isometric Cities set features hundreds of high-resolution symbols and textures and all the tools, effects and templates you need to create breath-taking city views of your own. All buildings and objects, be they houses, workshops city walls, tombs and crypts, boats and wagons, or shrubs and trees – come in four cardinal views so you see and display them from all sides.
We will send out a separate product announcement later this week (via email and blog) from which you will be able purchase SS6 , and you will get immediate access to the beta version. It includes all artwork, tools and styles, and the Essentials guide. You can report any problems and issues to ralf@profantasy.com and we will fix them for the finished version, which should not be long in the making.

Simon Rogers | February 19, 2014 | dungeon, dungeons of schley, Mike Schley, symbol set
In February last year, Mark Fulford and I flew to Phoenix to meet CAD guru Mike Riddle and expert programmer and ProFantasy mainstay Peter Olsson. Serendipitously, cartography Mike Schley lives in Phoenix, so we agreed to meet.
By this stage Mike Schley was developing an overland map style for use in the forthcoming CC3+, but as a result of our conversation we also agreed that he would create an entirely new symbol set, too. It’s an unashemedly fantasy-oriented dungeon-bashing style, with the complete set of symbols you get with DD3 and Fantasy Floorplans.
We’ve kept this one under our hat, but we are now ready to announce, The Dungeons of Schley!
We’ve still got to do some work perfecting the effects to make it look just right, but here are some sneak peaks:
