MirkwoodIt is my pleasure to announce the Master Mapper of 2021, the yearly title we bestow on the most outstanding map-maker of the ProFantasy community. It is never been an easy choice, seeing all the wonderful maps created by our map-makers, but in the end we all agreed on a name for 2021: Hans Anders Bergström, or Lillhans as he is know on the forum. He created an insane amount of highly innovative and wonderful maps, inventing his very own technique of simulating water colors and hand-drawn lines in the process, astounding the whole community and us with what could be achieved with the tools at hand. We therefore name him the Master Mapper of 2021. Congratulations and thanks!

Hans Anders has been with us on the community forum since 2019, and the number of maps he has shared in that relatively short time is immense. With the Master Mapper title we want to specifically thank him for:

  • Creating lots of highly innovative maps and shared his creation process with the community.
  • Starting and participating in lively discussions, helping actively and contributing to the shared skill set in the Profantasy community.
  • Coming up with new and unexpected ways to use Campaign Cartographer’s tools and freely sharing them with the other map-makers of the community.
  • Contributed to the resources available for Campaign Cartographer via the Cartographer’s Annual.

So, thank you Anders, we are looking forward to all the future maps, styles and symbols you will come up with!

Wyvern CitadelIt is high-time we announce the Master Mapper award for 2020, though with all the wonderful community activity going on, it’s not been an easy choice this year. One mapper stood out for us though, not only because of the sheer amount of wonderful maps they created, but also due to their helpfulness to other mappers, as well as the inventiveness their map-making showed. It’s our forum member Alastair McBeath (Wyvern), who we name Master Mapper of 2020. Congratulations and thanks!

Alastair has been with us on the community forum since 2013, and the number of maps he has shared since then is innumerable. With the Master Mapper title we want to specifically thank him for:

Zariq

  • Creating many beautiful and innovative maps and sharing them with the community.
  • Lively discussions, active help and always being welcoming in the Profantasy community.
  • Coming up with new ways to use Campaign Cartographer’s tools and assets, and sharing these with his fellow map-makers.
  • Contributing to the toolset of Campaign Cartographer via the Cartographer’s Annual.

So, thank you, Alastair, we are looking forward to all the future maps you will come up with!

Continuing our tradition of honoring and thanking the most prolific and helpful members of our community, we are awarding – probably to nobody’s surprise but her own – 2019’s title of Master Mapper to …

Master Mapper 2019: Sue Daniel

Sue has been a member of our map-making community for some years now and has been a constant companion to us in the community forum, the Facebook group, as well as in the work for the Cartographer’s Annual and other projects. We specifically want to thank her with this award for:

  • Creating many amazingly beautiful maps and sharing them with the community.
  • Always being there to answer questions from the community in the most diligent way.
  • Taking the tools and resources of Campaign Cartographer 3 to their limits and beyond, stretching their application for everyone else.
  • For contributing her knowledge and work both on the RGPMaps blog and in the Cartographer’s Annual.

So, thank you Sue and we hope we will see many more of your beautiful works and your helpful advice in the coming years!

The Master Mapper award has been on hiatus for a few years, but certainly not because of a lack of awesome cartographers out there! It’s our fault due to being busy with other things and not being able to make our mind up who among so many great Campaign Cartographer users we should single out. Well, we are certainly going to change that and start out by awarding the honor to not one, but two deserving mappers! For that we are going back a bit in time …

Rapture Galaxy MapMaster Mapper 2017: Joe Sweeney

Awarding Joe Sweeney the Master Mapper title for one specific year is like saying “D&D was the most popular role-playing game this year” – it’s true, but it doesn’t say much! Joe has been a great asset to the community for years, creating templates, maps, free resources and videos.

As Joe has been supporting the CC user community for ages and we felt it was high-time we properly recognized that contribution.

So we just picked a recent year and declared him Master Mapper of 2017 for:

Trader's Peace Pirate City Map

We can’t thank Joe enough for the support he has provided to the Campaign Cartographer community over the years. You are a true Master Mapper in all meanings of the word!

MalajuriMaster Mapper 2018: Christina Trani

When looking at all the beautiful maps submitted to the community in 2018 we at first felt overwhelmed at all the material. How could we decide on a Master Mapper from among all those great cartographers? But one did indeed stand out when we looked a little closer. There are so many consistently beautiful maps created by Christina Trani (Lorelei on the forum), it became clear to us she is indeed the Master Mapper of 2018.

The Master Mapper award for 2018 goes to Christina for:

  • Creating a large number of amazingly beautiful maps.
  • Pushing the boundaries of what can be done in Campaign Cartographer, expanding the horizon of all its users.
  • Being active in the Facebook user group and the community forum.
  • And for supporting and contributing to the Community Atlas project.

Thank you Christina for being such a great part of the Profantasy user community. Please continue amazing us with your beautiful maps and pushing the boundaries of CC3+. Continue being a Master Mapper!

In 1998 we instituted the coveted Master Mapper award for excellence in cartography. You can see the hall of fame here. One Master Mapper is a full time freelancer and ProFantasy mainstay – Ralf Schemmann; L Lee Saunders creates amazing add-ons, and other Master Mappers still contribute to the community.

We are reinstating the Master Mapper award. There is a backlog of worthy candidates, so expect to see us making up for lost time with a few select awards. This brings me to our Master Mapper, best known to the ProFantasy community as Joachim de Ravenbel, a name Jean-Michel Bravo took on a whim for RPG-related posts.

Jean-Michel is unusual even amongst Master Mappers for the breadth of his talent. He creates maps, writes macros, develops map-making techniques, supports the forum community, and has even programmed an XP – the CC3 name for add-ons.
