The current bi-weekly roleplaying campaign I am running is the excellent “Borellus Connection” for Pelgrane Press’ Fall of Delta Green game. I had the pleasure to create some of the maps in the published book, from the heroin smuggling routes of the 1960s, via a drug lords compound to a Beirut warehouse floorplan.
More maps were created by other talented mappers, meaning the book has plenty of material, but I still found myself wanting more as our campaign progressed – you can never have enough maps!
Especially one location in Marseille tickled my fancy, as it is very interesting geographically, but at the same time difficult to put into a map – and the book didn’t have one. So I sat down, fired up CC3+ and used my trusty Dracula Dossier modern floorplan style to map the villain’s lair in Marseille.
Now, the location has some otherworlds components and the description is vague enough to make any mapper question their sanity, so I decided to not try to pin down everything to the inch. Instead I focused on the relative position to things to each other and convey the atmosphere of the place (one of a claustrophic maze). It worked quite well in practice during the game.
So in case you need a labyrinthine hideout for your games, or you are even running the Borellus Connection campaign (which I highly recommend), you can grab the FCW map here.

Hello, I am back with another All the Annuals, 2015 Dracula Dossier. This map just begs to be played in some horror RPG setting, doesn’t it? So I went super simple on this one….no furniture or objects to distract, just the basic floorplan, building outline. This map, in my mind, is strictly so the players of a campaign can find their way around this hospital, which is currently abandoned, in disarray and obviously inhabited by some Great Old One, wreaking havoc on the surrounding village.
Meant to be obtained through an encounter is the old city records repository of one of my Cthulhu City maps (courtesy of the 2017 December Annual), this map was inspired by and copied over the original floorplan of an infamous asylum, in an historic city, across the pond in the UK. I’ve used the public domain prints of the original drawn new plans of the infamous Bethlem, otherwise known as Bedlam, Royal Hospital.
I’ve included in the map a copy of the front view of the hospital from the public domain file, as I think it adds something to the map – making it mirror the plans more exactly, which in turn gives the submersion into the game a little flair. I love giving my players handouts (though since I’ve moved we’ve had to move our game to online so my gifts are now in the form of pdfs and pngs), and printing up a map like this is just a favorite of mine in game play.
About the author: Lorelei was my very first D&D character I created more years back than i’d like to remember. When I decided to venture into creating maps for my and others rpgs, I thought I owed it to her to name myself Lorelei Cartography, since it was her that led me to the wonderful world of tabletop gaming in the first place. Since then I have been honored to have worked with companies such as WizKids, Pelgrane Press, and ProFantasy.

Seeing the recent pre-order release of Pelgrane Press’ Dracula Dossier, we are thrilled to offer the Dracula Dossier mapping style as this month’s Annual issue. This very set of tools was used to create the floorplan maps in Pelgrane’s massive improvisational campaign. Now you can use it for your own modern-action-horror locations!
The September issue is available both for CC3 and CC3+. You can download both setups from your registration page on the Subscriptions tab. If you haven’t subscribed to the Annual 2015 yet, you can do so here.

This is another bit of synergy between the sister companies Profantasy Software and Pelgrane Press. Pelgrane’s Kickstarter project for the “Dracula Dossier” was a huge success, and for the many locations detailed in the campaign, they needed a unified map-style that different cartographers could use.
Realizing that the same would be useful to ProFantasy’s user base, we set about creating a floorplan style which could also be published as an issue of the Cartographer’s Annual. The style had to adhere to a few guidelines from the Dracula Dossier art direction: A clear and straightforward look, that fits the game’s modern setting, legibility at a variety of different scales and in various environments (books, pdfs, web), and of course matching the book’s layout and color design.
You can see the first map in the new “Dracula Dossier” style on the right (click the image to see a larger scale version). It details the underground remains of “Carfax Abbey”, Dracula’s estate during his stay in England. You can read a preview of the site’s description here.
The Dracula Dossier annual style will be available later this year, closer to the release of this exciting campaign for Night’s Black Agents.
